Support Our Soldiers - Christmas Parcel Appeal

Every year, to bring some festive cheer to the lads and lassies on operations overseas, Support Our Soldiers runs our nationwide Christmas Parcel Appeal.

We are delighted to say that we have again received permission to run our Christmas Parcel Appeal, which is fully backed and endorsed by the MOD and BFPO, with whom we work closely, to ensure that the mail system isn't overloaded as this can cause delays to mail from loved ones.

Each year we send our allocation of Christmas parcels which were very well received by the lads and lassies serving overseas and helped to raise morale at what is a very difficult time for them to be away from their families and loved ones.

How you can get involved:-

Making Up A Christmas Parcel

Each year our Area Co-ordinators throughout the UK receive thousands of absolutely beautiful Christmas Parcels to send out to the UK's fantastic Armed Forces serving overseas during the festive season.

If you would like to make up a care parcel or batch of care parcels to donate to our appeal please take a look at our contact page and see if you have a local Area Co-ordinator.
Parcels or donations in the newcastle area can be dropped off at The Trading Post, 224 Westgate Road, Newcastle

What To Include In A Christmas Parcel

We like to make our Christmas parcels special and a little different from the parcels which we send throughout the rest of the year. We tend to reduce the number of toiletries which we include and make up the box with treats and homely reminders of a Christmas at home.

Below is a list of suggested items for a Christmas parcel. This list is by no means exhaustive and there are loads of other great items that you can include!!

Santa Hat, Selection Box, Chocolate, Sweets (Haribo are a favorite!!), Christmas Cake, Nuts & Raisins, Salted / Dry Roasted Peanuts, Crisps, Snacks, Biscuits, Chewing Gum, Small Tins Of Meat / Fruit, Travel Size Toiletry Items (Shower Gels / Roll On Deodorant), Puzzle Book, Socks & Undies, Pens, Pencils, Note Pads and a Small Christmas Gift.

Please note that the following items are NOT ALLOWED to be included:-

Alcohol, Aerosols, Glass, Matches, Lighters,
Christmas Crackers, Party Poppers or Top Shelf Magazines

Please ensure that your parcels weigh no more than 1.9kg and that your items can fit into an average size shoe box.

Our co-ordinators are also more than happy to accept loose parcel fillers to add into boxes being made up.

In the event that we have reached our allocation of 12,000 parcels, any remaining will be sent out to the lads and lassies throughout 2014.

Christmas Cards / Letters Of Support

We know that lots of our supporters like to send Christmas cards and letters of support to the troops. If you would like us to send these in your parcels please include them.

Do you have someone you'd like a parcel to go to?

If you have relatives or friends serving in any of the Forces, serving overseas, provide us with Name, Rank and Serial No and Operation and we can endeavour to get parcels out to them.  You can email these details to (Joe is at the Trading Post who are a parcel collection point)
